Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of Lineserve's services and infrastructure. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.

Permitted Uses​

You may use Lineserve services for:

  • Legitimate Business Operations: Web hosting, applications, databases
  • Development and Testing: Software development, staging environments
  • Educational Purposes: Learning, research, academic projects
  • Personal Projects: Blogs, portfolios, personal websites
  • Data Processing: Analytics, machine learning, scientific computing

Prohibited Uses​

Illegal Activities​

  • Any activity that violates local, state, national, or international laws
  • Copyright infringement or intellectual property violations
  • Fraud, identity theft, or financial crimes
  • Hacking, cracking, or unauthorized access attempts

Harmful Content​

  • Malware, viruses, or malicious code distribution
  • Phishing, spam, or unsolicited bulk email
  • Content promoting violence, hatred, or discrimination
  • Adult content involving minors
  • Terrorist content or activities

Network Abuse​

  • DDoS Attacks: Distributed denial of service attacks
  • Port Scanning: Unauthorized network reconnaissance
  • Cryptocurrency Mining: Without explicit permission
  • Proxy Services: Open proxies or anonymization services
  • Botnet Operations: Command and control infrastructure

Resource Abuse​

  • Excessive resource consumption affecting other users
  • Running services that violate third-party terms of service
  • Reselling services without authorization
  • Using services for backup storage only (without compute usage)

Specific Service Guidelines​

VPS and Bare Metal Servers​

  • No Mining: Cryptocurrency mining is prohibited
  • Resource Limits: Respect CPU, memory, and bandwidth limits
  • Security: Keep systems updated and secure
  • Monitoring: Allow reasonable monitoring for security purposes

Messaging Services​

  • No Spam: Bulk unsolicited messages are prohibited
  • Opt-in Required: Recipients must have consented to receive messages
  • Rate Limits: Respect sending rate limitations
  • Content Restrictions: No illegal or harmful content

Object Storage​

  • Legal Content Only: No copyrighted material without permission
  • No Backup Only: Must be used in conjunction with compute services
  • Bandwidth Limits: Respect reasonable usage limits
  • Security: Properly secure sensitive data

Enforcement​

Violation Response​

  1. Warning: First violation may result in a warning
  2. Suspension: Temporary service suspension for serious violations
  3. Termination: Permanent account termination for severe violations
  4. Legal Action: Law enforcement involvement when required

Investigation Process​

  • Lineserve reserves the right to investigate suspected violations
  • We may suspend services during investigation
  • Users must cooperate with reasonable investigation requests
  • Evidence of violations will be preserved as required by law

Reporting Violations​

How to Report​

  • Support Ticket: Through customer portal
  • Emergency: For urgent security issues

Required Information​

  • Description of the violation
  • Evidence (URLs, screenshots, logs)
  • Your contact information
  • Relationship to the violation (victim, observer, etc.)

Content and Data​

User Responsibility​

  • You are responsible for all content and data on your services
  • Ensure you have rights to use and store all content
  • Implement appropriate security measures
  • Comply with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Lineserve Rights​

  • We may remove content that violates this AUP
  • We may preserve content as required by law
  • We do not monitor content but may investigate reports
  • We reserve the right to refuse service

Security Requirements​

Mandatory Security Practices​

  • Keep Software Updated: Install security patches promptly
  • Strong Authentication: Use strong passwords and 2FA
  • Secure Configurations: Follow security best practices
  • Monitor Access: Review access logs regularly

Prohibited Security Practices​

  • Weak Passwords: Default or easily guessable passwords
  • Open Services: Unnecessary services exposed to internet
  • Unpatched Systems: Running outdated software with known vulnerabilities
  • Shared Credentials: Sharing account credentials

  • Comply with applicable data protection laws
  • Implement appropriate data security measures
  • Respect user privacy and consent requirements
  • Report data breaches as required by law

Modifications to Policy​
